I like the number plate light.would look great if we could reproduce in NZ120.mind you it probably wouldn't show up unless you dimmed the lights.excuse my ignorance.what do the blue and white strips on footwalk signify?

The blue and white flashes are made of reflectorised tape to prevent partially sighted, deaf motorists driving into the side of trains at night while texting in the rain.

We had a scary escape one night driving in North Caterbury in fog. I can't remember there being any lights on the cross and if we had not seen the loco go through we would have driven into the side of the train, even with the reflectorised strips on the sides of the wagons, which we could only just make out from 5m.

must be the type of conditions that drivers dread as well. not knowing what is going to appear as they pass over crossings.its bad enough in good daylight conditions.by the way, did anyone see the video on you tube of the car going around the barrier arms as the train approached. must have been only a coat of paint in it. somewhere in europe, I suspect.

But isn't that why locos have headlights????

In my case, the loco had passed the crossing by the time we arrived and the only sign there was anything there was large square things flashing past in the night. Was actually quite scary.
