Completely Off Topic: Getting into the Christmas Spirit

DB says: Yes, we had some snow today on Long Island - 26 inches, or 66 cm for those working with advanced measuring systems. I managed to get some DX-ing done after the shoveling and there is a post scheduled for later today covering the previous week's efforts just in case you thought we'd all given up on the whole modelling thing.

But for now, forget about mowing the grass, sit back in your collapsible sun chair, put the radio onto the cricket, grab a bevvie and be glad you're in the bottom hemisphere.

My neighbour starting to dig out his cars at noon (a black Maxima and a white long-dead Chevy Lumina in case you can't pick them): And we eventually venture out in the cold:
Moar power!
It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Darryl, great shots! often thought it would be nice to experience a white xmas, but its also a lot of hard work by the looks of things. do you usually get this amount of snow or is this unique. looks as though usa and europe are getting a severe winter at present. was there a plutonium factory in long island years ago.I seem to remember a film about an incident involving contamination, but not sure of location. could make a good power source for a styrene laser cutter!

I love the snow, but 5 days on I still haven't got all the snow out of the driveway. It kills your lower back eventually...

The Brookhaven National Lab is less than 10 kms away and it has one of those huge 1km diameter or so atom smasher circles. Not sure if they etch styrene though!

If you've read the Plum Island and other books by Nelson DeMille, they're set here as well. Speaking of contaminations, I always liked the start of that Robin Cook book Contagion... I usually prefer books with more pictures than words though.
