The future pt 2

I've spent this evening adding the doors, side bracing and the roof bits. These are going to be sorted for the Mk3 version. Its not overly easy to put together (I would describe it as a very good scratch aid, but the result has surprised an NZ120 modeler who thought he had seen it all).

Blow it up full sized and be amazed. I was when I did.

"Do you know how hard it is to make a fake ruler?"

I now need to find a short haired cat to add in the wires.

Our "Mr Laser" is away until the 18 of Jan, but hopefully we should have an Acceptable prototype ready by February.

Just for those interested, this is the feedback from the Head Druff and the response from the Hutt Valley Car and Wagon design team:

"The doors probably need to be 0.5mm longer so that theres no gap down the sides when they are shut."

The MKIII already has the lower door runner designed in to help keep it on, but enlarging the doors 0.25 in each direction is a good idea.

"I used tracing paper for the strapping. The strapping doesn't need any fancy ends as they are nice just as they are"

I've already drawn it with the "fancy ends", we'll just have to see how well it cuts in the 0.025 Mylar suggested by Kingi. Its not that much harder to do (draw once, cut many), so may as well run with the best we can do for no extra effort in the long run.

"It might be nice to have a couple of strips of ply cut the same thickness as the side uprights to use behind the strapping and as door stops"

Another good idea, wont hurt. The Mk III will probably have the wood that goes behind the strapping though...

"Lose the holes for the bottom floor and make it as long as the tabs."

Redesigned as requested.

"Maybe also some more ply (again the same width as the uprights) to make some cross slats for the upper floor"

Grooves will be rastered in for the slats with strips provided accordingly.

hey Druff what colour short hairs from cats do you want. I have two, a black cat and a black and white, I'm sure I can get some hairs off them

I can see the instruction sheet now: "Step 7: Stalk a cat."

Cabbage tells me he has something better, and I don't have to 'tail' the neighbors cat.
