AO9: Meow

DB fills in:

When the cat's away, the mice can sleep in all day long.

In the meantime, in lieu of any meaningful modeling content, here is a 1:1 scale picture for your Windows desktop background showing what AO cars are supposed to look like. Within 12 months, this pic will be ancient history with the almost 70 year old blue AO cars having been replaced by the AKs being constructed at Hillside at the moment.
Speaking of clearing out your old junk, I really do need to have a big cleanout in the trainroom as I could barely get in there today to paint and bogie two more of these 56 foot cars. I now have 4 in a half-finished state, so with my AG vans, that's almost enough to model the consist above. If I can clear out a hole big enough to stuff a camera through, I'll take a picture.

P.s. the KR2 split-personality colour scheme on those DCs is slowly growing on me, like a fungus.

apologies, the blogger upload process has downsized and pixelated this file rather nastily. i'll put it on my website somewhere

It's good to see clean locomotives for a change. I wonder how the Yell or red will wear over time.

Unlike the lucky people in the southern NI, the SI is still plagued with loads of grungy greens, blues and blacks so its not so common to see a clean matched pair of locos. At least they seem to be trying to get the clean ones on the passenger trains when they can. Interesting that some of the fruit salad DCS still look pretty good - must have been great paint they used.

many thanks for a great photo. its on my laptop. my wife got sick of seeing trains on our desktop background, so she changed photo to windows standard background showing small island with palm trees. just dosen't do it for me.mind you considering her capabilities with technology, i am impressed she managed to do this(somehow i suspect collusion with one of my techi sons)

PARTRI- when you have all the Partridge family together as a group.

Have just been privy to a real life physical view (& touch) of the first new Kiwirail coach a building at Hillside, plus its interior fitout mock-up - was officially unable to take pictures whilst viewing regrettably - suffice to say the coaches will be a trifle taller than you depicted - look fantastic - new colour scheme is impressive - officially was there to take detail pictures of Tr 874 (the Hillside, Hillside shunter)required for the NZ120 etched version under way.

Now that's an interesting morsel!

Dare I ask what chassis?

Presume your chassis query relates to the Tr - present intent is to fit that trial etch to a UK derived NDrive mechanism some time in 2011 - have a "trial" NDrive unit on the way for testing against an Hitachi etch -
